Spec Tool is proud to be rooted in Michigan—a state built on manufacturing innovation and precision craftsmanship. From our earliest days, we've thrived in the heart of the Midwest, drawing on a deep pool of skilled talent and a culture that values hard work, problem-solving, and ingenuity.
Spec Tool started in a garage in 1968. By 1972, we had moved into our first commercial building, and in 1977, we purchased a property in Sparta, MI. Due to the success of the business, we were able to construct an additional building on the Sparta property, which was completed in 1985.
Now, encompassing two buildings and approximately 36,000 square feet of manufacturing space, we are large enough to tackle almost any tooling challenge.
Small Town Feel, Big Impact Capability
Our team has grown to over 70 full-time members, some of whom have 40+ years of experience. We have in-house engineering, CAD/CAM, and application specialists. We pride ourselves on providing our customers exactly what they need rather than stocking limited sizes and coatings, forcing customers to make do.
Though we operate from a small-town setting, our reach and capabilities are anything but limited. We serve clients across the country with the responsiveness of a close-knit team and the technical know-how of a much larger operation.
Our Market
Spec Tool manufactures HSS and carbide cutting tools, holders and fixtures. We service the markets of aerospace, automotive, petroleum, medical, woodworking, along with many other industries. Since 1968 we've grown into the ever-expanding market of CBN, PCD, and ceramic cutting tools.
