Spec Tool is proud to be rooted in Michigan — a state known for manufacturing innovation and precision craftsmanship. From our earliest days, we've thrived in the Midwest, drawing from a deep pool of skilled talent and a culture that values hard work, problem-solving, and ingenuity.
Spec Tool started in a garage in 1968. By 1972, we moved into our first commercial building. In 1977, we purchased our long-term home in Sparta, Michigan. We expanded again in 1985 and completed our largest expansion in 2004 — bringing us to approximately 36,000 square feet of manufacturing space.

Spec Tool is established by a team of cutting tool specialists focused on custom-engineered carbide tools for local manufacturers.
First Commercial Building
Growing demand leads to a move into our first dedicated facility, expanding production and engineering capabilities.
Sparta, MI Property
We purchase a permanent home in Sparta, Michigan, placing us in the heart of West Michigan's manufacturing corridor.
Second Building Added
A major expansion increases machining and grinding capacity to support growing customer demand.
